Hear the roar of the crowd and the laughter of the young and the young at heart.  Pleasant Park, approved as part of the 2017 Parks Bond and scheduled to be under full construction by the end of 2019, will be a showcase facility for the Town of Apex and the entire region. From athletics, to nature education and quiet strolls in the wood... from the squeal of surprise in the splash pad to a pick-up game after work, this 92 acre park will provide opportunities for all ages and abilities and give Apex residents the opportunity to “STAY AND PLAY” in Apex.

Along with road improvements to Pleasant Plains Road, Kings View Trail and the CSX crossing and intersection at Old US 1 HWY, initial construction will include 6 lighted, multi-purpose turf fields, 4 lighted tennis courts, the Town’s first water play area enclosed in a 1.3 acre amenity area with an Enchanted Forest theme, a Picnic Shelter with Restrooms and a staffed maintenance facility.

The 1.3 acres of Enchanted Forest will be a step into every child’s dream. Where themes from children’s stories become reality. It is a mysterious land where ocean creatures visit the beach, pirates battle for treasures, prince and princesses save their castles, magical cities come alive, and of course the fairies and gnomes in the woodlands go on myriad adventures. The play adventure is created with the hope to liberate the spirit of exploration and imagination of every child and invite every adult to rekindle the wonders of childhood. There is no single story, rather an unfolding of many.  Embark on the journey from one play room to the next in various themed play spaces which occupy the enchanted forest and offer a diverse range of sensory and kinesthetic experiences. Each play room presents opportunities to feel, touch, smell, and engage children of all ages and abilities to discover the moments that spark joy and fond memories that will be cherished for generations.

The currently approved site plan includes the following additional amenities: 3 pickle ball courts, 2 basketball courts, 4 lighted turf baseball/softball fields, a sand volleyball court, restroom and concession areas, a field house with locker rooms, 3 picnic shelters, a 5K cross country course, and an open play lawn. Once completed, the park will have a total of 3 Picnic Shelters with restrooms, multiple seating and gathering areas, open lawns, a food truck “alley” and paved lighted walkways for circulation and safety.

 purple.like Meeting the Needs:

Athletics Program Expansion: The Town's athletic fields are scheduled to capacity resulting in waiting lists for most youth and many adult athletic programs. There is no ability to add new programs such as lacrosse or partner with local private sports programs or schools to provide field space. The fields built at Pleasant Park will allow for the expansion of softball, baseball, tennis, soccer, and lacrosse programs.

Tournament Hosting: Our residents travel all over the state to participate in youth athletic tournaments. Pleasant Park is envisioned as a tournament facility, allowing Apex athletes to stay and play.
