Quizzard's Quest ~ September 25 - October 12, 2020Quizzard Key Logo

In the Witchering Woods, there's an absent-minded witch known as the Quizzard. Last night, she was given the key to Apex, her favorite place in the whole world. She immediately put it in a safe place: a treasure chest with a magical padlock. Unfortunately, she's forgotten the magic words that will open the chest! She knew that something like this might happen someday, so she left clues around Apex as a reminder. If you can solve these riddles, you'll wind up with a five-word spell that'll open the chest. What are the magic words? Only you can find out!

This is a free, family-friendly activity designed to get you out and active in our parks while still staying safe during this time.

SIGN UP TO PARTICIPATE HERE! You only need to sign up once per family/group for this free activity. It will involve you and your group visiting several Apex parks and solving puzzles at each. The puzzles are designed to be fun for a wide age range to participate. You will never need to touch, move or go inside anything to participate, so this is a great way to get outside while social distancing and still follow the current health recommendations during this time. If you can solve the puzzles and clues and discover the magic spell, you will unlock a mystery gift and be entered for a chance to win fabulous Apex-themed prizes! Share photos or videos of you and your group using #ApexQuizzardQuest.

You must submit your guess for the correct code by October 12 at 8am. A big thank you to Whole Brain Escape for collaborating with us on this event! If you have any questions, send us a message on our Facebook Page (for the fastest response) or email allie.prelaske@apexnc.org.

After submitting this form, you will receive an email with detailed instructions to get started. Good luck!!

StoryWalk® at the Parkstorywalk small sign

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

We are excited to introduce StoryWalk® to Apex!  You can read a children's book as you walk along a short nature trail (around .5 miles). The trail is paved with small sections of boardwalk.  StoryWalk®  is currently located at Seagroves Farm Park (201 Parkfield Dr). Head towards the shelter near the parking lot to begin your walk!

Questions? Call 919-249-3402, message us on Facebook or send an email.

If you have already done our Storywalk®, we would love for you to share your feedback here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/TownOfApex1/aprcrstorywalk

Virtual Programs

We are excited to introduce... online programs! Due to COVID-19 and the closing of many Town facilities, including most of the amenities that allow us to conduct indoor and outdoor activities, the Town has cancelled many organized programs.  Therefore, to help fill in the gap while we transition back to running in-person activities, we are introducing several virtual programs for your enjoyment!

Registration is open for both Apex residents and non-residents. These classes will be available for online registration only at www.apexnc.org/peakconnect.  After registration a link will be sent to your email to join the class. These programs will be run through Zoom. It is our hope that one of these programs will meet your needs while we’re waiting to re-open at full capacity.

If you have any questions regarding teen and adult programs, please contact laura.carraway@apexnc.org. If you have any questions about senior programs, please contact allie.prelaske@apexnc.org. If you have any questions about Halle Cultural Arts programs, please contact renee.anderson@apexnc.org.
