Town of Apex Volunteer Opportunities

Adopt-a-Park / Trail

Adopting a section of a Town trail or park, and improve it through litter pick-up, maintaining flower beds, painting, spreading playground mulch and other safety surfacing and other manual labor. Learn more...

Citizen Advisory Boards

Advisory boards offer Apex citizens the opportunity to provide input to Council on important topics including land use planning, zoning, and parks & recreation. Members are Council-appointed, with terms lasting from 1 to 3 years. Most boards meet monthly. If you’d like to serve, submit an interest form.

Citizens Assisting Police in Apex (CAPA)

CAPA members help provide assistance at public events and assist the Police Department in support roles at events such as Child/Medical ID Program, PeakFest, Apex Night Out, Christmas with a Cop, Town Parades, Traffic Control and more. Before becoming CAPA member, a volunteer must successfully complete Apex’s Citizens Police Academy. Email for more info.

Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

Participants are educated about disaster preparedness and trained in basic disaster response skills to enable them to assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event. To volunteer, please fill out the online form

Events

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help out at signature events like the Holi Festival, EarthFest, Olde Fashioned 4th of July, Turkey Trot, and other annual offerings! Volunteers also assist with gallery install and ushering shows at the Halle Cultural Arts Center. New opportunities are added to the volunteer website as they come up. Landscaping / Outdoor

Assist with outdoor projects like mulching at the town’s parks and trails. To volunteer, please fill out the online form

Journey League

Journey League is an all-volunteer run basketball program that allows individuals with special needs to play a team sport in a positive and encouraging environment. To volunteer, please fill out the online form

Think Apex Day

Our annual day of community service is held the last Saturday in April. Volunteer activity opportunities are varied from year to year. Learn more... 

Youth Athletics Coaching

The Town of Apex offers several different youth sports throughout the year. These programs rely on community members to volunteer to coach teams. All Apex Youth Athletics coaches are volunteers and training will be provided for coaching or assisting teams. Volunteers will need to complete a background check prior to the season. To volunteer, please visit the Youth Athletics page and select the sport and season that you would like to coach. A specific link to submit a form will be on the page. 

Youth Council

The Apex Youth Council is an independent organization run by local middle and high school students to enhance the local community through leadership and service. By becoming a member, you will gain experience in planning and participating in community events and fundraising, as well as developing organizational, social and professional skills. The 2024-2025 application will be open from August 1 through August 18. Visit the Apex Youth Council page for more information.

Connecting Community

Connecting Community hosts engaging opportunities for underserved community members to connect with and learn about agencies and the resources they provide. Volunteers will help at their many community events throughout the year. Learn more about Connecting Community here

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels of Wake County serves noon time meals every weekday to the elderly, homebound and persons with disabilities of Wake County. To volunteer, or for more information, please visit the Meals on Wheels website.

Western Wake Crisis Ministry

This organization works to partner with those in crisis, helping them gain stability through basic supports for food, financial/housing assistance, education, and opportunity. Learn more...
