Celebrate with us this July!


Every July we celebrate National Park and Recreation Month here in Apex! For 2025, the theme is "Build Together, Play Together," which highlights how together we’re building and maintaining accessible, inclusive and sustainable parks and recreation programs that deliver powerful benefits to our communities.

Summer Slam ~  July 26, 2025

John M. Brown Community Center (53 Hunter St)  |  11am - 3pm (Tournament runs 9am - 5pm)

The Town of Apex is hosting its first-ever 3v3 Summer Slam Tournament, bringing together players from across the community for a full day of competitive basketball and fun. Teams will compete in one of seven divisions based on age and gender. The tournament will start with group play followed by semifinals and championship games. Each team is guaranteed at least two games, and there will be additional activities alongside the tournament! Limited spots available (each bracket is limited to the first 12 teams that register), so secure your spot early! Potential prizes include exclusive Apex basketballs signed by Casey Morsell, championship t-shirts, and a $125 Zaxby's gift card!

Age Brackets: 13/14 Boys, 15/17 Boys, 18+ Men’s,  13/14 Girls,  15/17 Girls,  18+ Women’s,  35+ Open Division (no gender requirement – teams may be all male, all female, or coed)

Registration Fee: $50 per team ($35 if you register by June 1st)
Registration Deadline: July 11th, 2025 (Friday)

  • The first 25 people in line at the Frios Gourmet Pop Truck get a free popsicle!

Fireworks Frenzy ~  July 3, 2025

Kick off July 4th celebrations with a spectacular fireworks display! This year's event offers food trucks and activities along Hunter Street from Salem Street to Mason Street / Laura Duncan Road. Learn more here!

Olde Fashioned Fourth of July ~  July 4, 2025

This long-standing traditional event features games for all ages, inflatables, the Parade of Wheels, and ends with a splash down from the Apex Fire Department. Learn more here!

Rhythm & Reels ~  Summer Music and Movies

Join us on select Saturday evenings for a night of music and movies under the stars. Events are held at the Apex Nature Park Amphitheatre (2600 Evans Road.) Load up the family, lawn chairs, blankets, a picnic dinner and show up early for good seats! No pets or alcohol allowed.
